Prof. Gisa Gerold Elected Vice-Chair at the Gordon Research Conference on Viruses and Cells
Prof. Gisa Gerold from our Institute of Virology recently attended the 2025 Gordon Research Conference on “Viruses and Cells,” where she presented her research on how alphavirus infections affect neuronal development using 3D brain organoid models.
Prof. Gerold was elected Vice-Chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Viruses and Cells for 2025-2027, serving alongside Benjamin Gewurz from Harvard Medical School. She was also elected to serve as Chair for 2027-2029, again with Dr. Gewurz.
The Gordon Research Conference on Viruses and Cells focuses on virus-host interactions, antiviral strategies, and cellular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis. The 2025 conference included sessions on therapeutic strategies, immune system activation, viral gene regulation, and viral evolution.
The Institute of Virology at Medical University of Innsbruck conducts research on virus-host interactions and works to develop approaches for viral infection prevention and treatment.
