Inaugural Lecture: Prof. Dr. Gisa Gerold

 

Prof. Gisa Gerold, Director of the Institute of Virology, will deliver her inaugural lecture on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at 16:30 in the Audimax at Fritz-Pregl-Straße 3, Innsbruck.

 

Event Details

Prof. Gerold’s lecture is titled “Viruses: the good, the bad and the unknown.” The event will feature presentations from several distinguished researchers in the field of virology.

16:30 – Welcome remarks by Vice-President for Research Dr. Christine Bandtlow and University President Dr. Wolfgang Fleischhacker

16:35 – Keynote presentation by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Puchhammer-Stöckl from the Medical University of Vienna on “Epstein Barr Virus: from kissing disease to Multiple Sclerosis”

16:50 – Keynote presentation by Prof. Dr. Carla Saleh from Institut Pasteur Paris on “Viral infections reduce lifespan through accelerated aging”

17:10 – Statement by Prof. Dr. Charles M. Rice, Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology and Medicine 2020, from The Rockefeller University

17:15 – Prof. Gerold’s inaugural lecture

18:00 – Buffet and networking reception
