The Borena Lab | Epidemiology

Wegene Borena is a specialist in Virology and heads the Clinical Diagnostics Unit at the Institute. Besides diagnostics, her main areas of expertise are epidemiology of viral infections and  vaccination.

During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, she led several major population-based epidemiological studies on infection prevalence, undocumented infections and vaccine effectiveness. In addition to SARS-CoV-2, her research focuses on the epidemiological landscape of HPV infections and vaccine acceptance.
