Prof. Daniel Rawle from the Emerging Viral Diseases Laboratory, QIMR Berghofer, Brisbane, Australia, will give a guest lecture at IVI on the topic “Uncovering mechanisms of infection and disease for emerging arboviruses.“

Short Bio
Daniel Rawle is Head of the Emerging Viral Diseases Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer, Brisbane, Australia, and Deputy Director of the Centre for Tropical Health and Emerging Diseases. He is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Emerging Leadership Fellow with over 11 years of experience in virus–host interactions, specialising in BSL3 mouse models of viral immunopathology and the preclinical evaluation of interventions.
Associate Professor Rawle has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including in Nature Reviews Immunology, Cell, and Nature Communications, and has secured approximately $3 million in NHMRC funding as Chief Investigator over the past two years. His research has delivered key mechanistic insights into arbovirus biology and immune-mediated disease, earning him a Breakthrough Award in 2022 and the Adele Green Emerging Research Leader Award in 2025.
